Finally the Israelis admit to using White Phosphorus, and even though the Israelis weakly claim now that the weapon was not used illegally (ok for cover not as a weapon in civilian areas) the picture in the article clearly shows the weapon being used illegally. How disingenuous. But do we expect anything different from rogue state numero uno? It is interesting to note the lengthy chain of denials until photographic evidence is produced which shreds the Israeli claims. Now the Israelis will investigate their own use of the munition internally. That is akin to Israel investigating its own war crimes in Jenin in 2001. What is the Hebrew word for "whitewash" ? And the news front is abuzz today with Israel announcing that legal teams will be defending IDF soldiers (and commanders) who stand accused of war crimes. White phosphorus use is not the only claim of war crimes the Palestinians in Gaza have. The incident in Zeitoun takes the cake and dispels any Israeli claim of "purity of arms".
