Gaza Massacre

200 dead, 750 wounded, and for what? For Qassam rockets which have killed < 10 people in 8 years. If ever there was an epitome of disproportionate use of force this attack by F-16's (paid for by US tax dollars my fellow Americans) is it.

All in the name of "self-defense". Please. This is immoral offense, and indiscriminate killing, and, by god, if you hold elections and call it a democratic process then deal with the results in a civilized manner, but not quarantining Gaza, withholding funds, petrol, electricity, medical supplies, humanitarian ships, ad UN mandated observers from entering Gaza and then wonder why home-made rockets are being fired (with no sophisticated guidance chips or any chance of doing massive damage).

Israel does not want peace. It wants to remain bellicose with its neighbors and continue to be indispensable to the US war machine and continue to receive our hard-earned and increasingly worthless dollars. Shame on the godless Israelis and their American stooges that support this type of over-response.

All true, but Palestinians give Israel the opening to attack. Hamas is aware that Israel would likely use the rockets as the justification. Instead of pulling back the rockets, and the people shooting them, and creating a situation where it can't be portrayed as a terrorist entity because of (as you put it) ineffective rocket fire, Hamas allows the terrorist impression to continue. Even electing Hamas in the first place was stupidity in its highest form IMO.

for the Admin comment:

not a very insightful post on your part. if you are capable of adding anything substantive to your comments that would be greatly appreciated. but perhaps it is easier for you to label then dismiss.

for Briel Computer :

At the time Hamas was elected, the PA was a puppet entity of the US and the Israelis, so the Palestinians had few choices. But former foreign minister of the Israelis Shlomo Ben-Ami said the US and Israel should deal with Hamas because as a political entity, militant acts were off the table as it would induce casus belli arguments from the Israelis.

But that said, I agree with you somewhat in that if one knows that its adversary has a tendency to over-react, why give them the opportunity and a justification. But Gaza has been made into a prison with 1.5 million people who are literally starving, desperate, broke, without fuel, without electricity, without basic medical supplies, without access to their livelihoods via fishing or exports and even when UN officials try to gain access (last week Richard Falk) to Gaza the Israelis humiliate them and deny them entry. It's a grand mess and to quote Amira Hass, Israeli journalist, that when people do these senseless things like fire homemade rockets, it is a sickness in which people must try and find the root cause, and without a 41 year illegal occupation, do the Palestinians attempt these futile and self-destructive strategies? Maybe they do, maybe they don't but right now the truck wheel is on their neck.
