An Economist Analyzes the Bailout Rejection

Well-written with very incisive analysis, including the history of the problem ...

Check it out.

I have just been reading the LA Times' article about Ron Paul and the bailout. The blogs there are about 99-1 for Ron Paul's solutions.

I still don't understand how we got the no-choice solution for this election.

So, the House of Representatives defeated the bill; the Senate then thumbed its nose at all of the people who contacted their representatives and passed the bill. Now the House is going to vote again. There are currently 25 petitions being circulated to demand Senators be recalled for new elections. We need to boot all of them out! (Amazingly, the two Senators from Louisiana voted against the bill.)

I cannot believe the House passed the thing.
When the thousands of dollars are subtracted from consumers' pockets, how will that drive the economy.

This reversal is wrong on so many levels.

#1 there were ratios of 10-1 to 30-1 for people calling their reps and saying vote NO, and the House defeated it then backtracked. what does this say about our "model" rep republic???????????????

#2 how do Paulson and Bernanke specifically have any credibility left?

#3 how do the taxpayers get socked with almost a trillion dollar bill for the financial failure of a few wall street banks? but to quote pelosi "it's not a bailout, it's a buy-in " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#4 how does congress mandate, without the clear consent of the governed, that all americans must suffer to rescue the privileged few? i must have missed that one in the constitution, which is seemingly dead

i'm simply too disgusted to continue

I am so sad. We had the chance to have Ron Paul and everyone was too stupid to have him. Now that he is no longer a threat to the establishment, all of the news agencies have had him for an interview because, obviously, he knows more about the economy than our great Congressmen do! Help us God!
